My younger brother doesn't like being alone, he's always happy when he can either call me or visit me. Despite the fact that he lives many hours away by car, he would come to see me regularly and stay for 3, 4 or 5 days. Every time he has to go home, he goes into a kind of depressive state.

After his birthday party at his place, during a walk together, he came up with the idea that WE, like his girlfriend's family, could have regular family reunions.
This idea, and what I had heard, struck me to the core.

It didn't fit into my plans at all, I didn't want it at all, and it presented a conflictive situation for me.

A little later, I told him about it. He accepted it at that moment, so that the activated SBS could be resolved.

The next day, a stabbing, throbbing pain began in my left ear, starting quite weakly at first, then becoming very intense. It felt like someone was drilling into my ear with a knife. There were no changes in my hearing, so many other possible causes could be ruled out. It was neuralgia in the area of the nerves in the ear. I was familiar with this from previous situations.

The root cause of the sensory nerve conflict is an (unjust) separation conflict, in this case a “wanting to be separated” from something heard. I realized that I often don't want to see or hear my brother. Once the danger of regular family gatherings was averted, the resolution symptoms began and lasted for about 5 days.
